When Chris told Penny to wear the special dress he bought her for Christmas for a night out to go on the Melbourne Star and then out for dinner, she had an inkling of what the night would hold.
“I had an idea because he’d dropped a few hints beforehand but I went along with it and tried not to make it obvious.”
And when they arrived at the Observation Wheel to be greeted with a glass of champagne and led into their own cabin with flowers, chocolates and a bluetooth speaker to play their own music, the gig was definitely up!
Chris had booked the special proposal package but he waited until their cabin was at the very top of the rotation, to pop the question with a ring he had picked out five weeks earlier.
“I proposed when we got to the very top so I was pretty nervous by then. Afterwards we went out for dinner to Port Melbourne, it was a good night; the happiest time of my life.”
