Evie told Katie in the first week they got together in London that she wanted to marry her. But being the more practical one of the pair, Katie wanted to wait until she was ready to pop the question.
After a couple of years together, she decided to propose during an upcoming trip to Port Douglas to spend Christmas together.
Except she didn’t realise it was monsoon season, so poor Katie carried the ring around for three days in the pouring rain waiting for the perfect opportunity, which never came!
In the end she did it on Christmas Day after they finished opening presents. Katie to Evie, I have one more present for you and she pulled out the ring.
“That sounds smooth but I wasn’t smooth at all, I actually shook a lot. I knew she’d say yes, but my heart was racing!”
