Kate only found out the day before that Ash had organised for her to have the day off work to celebrate their one-year anniversary. She had no idea that he’d arranged it two months prior as part of his proposal plan.

Ash booked the Queenscliff to Sorrento ferry, but left the rest of the day to chance, which worked out perfectly.

After stopping at a Geelong cafe for lunch, they boarded the ferry and went outside to the deck. Ash’s plan was to propose at the spot they had shared their first kiss on their first date.

“We sat down and he slid to one knee and pulled out the ring to propose. I was completely gobsmacked and went into full shock.”

Lastly, they went to a Mornington restaurant on the way home for dinner and watched the sunset from the deck, before arriving home to Kate’s mum to share a bottle of celebratory champagne.

“I just winged everything apart from the ferry but it was just perfect. If I’d tried to plan everything, it would never have worked out so well.”
