I first photographed Bianca and Ben at the wedding of their lovely friends Jo and Doug about twelve months ago, who we met at the wedding of Lou and Wayne, who we … Trudi and Darren, … Ange and Glenn (and Annie), … Kelly and Jason, you get the idea. So, when Bianca called me about two days after Jo (Sim) had convinced me that it was a good idea not to accept any more March bookings this year, I decided it would be an excellent idea to take JUST one more (when Jo heard that it was Bianca, she agreed too). I’m really glad I did.
Arriving at the house to photograph Bianca’s preparations, I was greeted by a house full of smiling, mostly-familiar faces. Bianca looked stunning in a simple, elegant, perfectly-chosen dress, and make-up skilfully applied by her talented friend Caroline (I couldn’t decide whether it’s spelt Caz or Kaz, sorry!). Meanwhile, at the hotel Ben was putting the finishing touches on a Coif that Conan O’Brien would be proud of!
They were married at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, in front of two very proud families and a couple of interested Bandicoots, with the reception a short walk away after a few photos around the gardens. Their celebrant (the always-great Wendy McRae) had helped them to concoct a ceremony which included a deadpan reading of Prince lyrics (“you don’t have to be cool to rule my world”), references to Homer, Marge, and to “Bonny and that Clyde guy, without all the dying, Gwyneth and that Coldplay guy, without all the crying”. I’ve been to a lot of weddings and heard some great vows, but “I won’t walk anywhere that you can’t follow” is one of the sweetest, and “I promise that before I get angry with you, I’ll think first about whether I’m actually just hungry” is one of the funniest. And as you’ll see below, the day continued on as it had started.
I’m really pleased to be able to share these images with you. Enjoy!
It’s always nice photographing the creations from Megan and the team at Mordialloc Florist!
