Caitlyn and Jeremy had been in a relationship for a few years when Jeremy realised that he wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. He would have loved to plan a spectacular proposal, perhaps even during an overseas holiday, but covid lockdowns squashed his dreams. When the couple received a voucher for the Q Train Restaurant on the Bellarine Peninsula for Christmas, Jeremy realised this would be a good opportunity to pop the question.

It was a beautiful evening with a seven-course meal with matching drinks, served in their own private dining cart. After a brief stop at the tiny Queenscliff railway station, Jeremy sheepishly pulled out a thick gold band to propose with. He quickly explained it was just a placeholder ring as the plan was to design a proper ring together!

It’s been five years of ups and downs for this couple since they first met online. Each has experienced their own personal struggles and losses but it’s only brought them closer together.

For their wedding day, Caitlyn and Jeremy decided to do a First Look moment before the ceremony, and the gardens of the spectacular Warrandyte house where the girls were getting ready were the perfect location.

After some photos with the bridal party, we headed to Bramleigh Estate for a touching ceremony out on the deck. Celebrant Keren Loyer told the story of Caitlyn and Jeremy’s first date in Glen Waverley on a Wednesday night, which both admit wasn’t very successful! But they agreed to meet up in the city again a few days later and it was much more relaxed and easy.

“Your smile and laugh is incredibly contagious. I remember I started falling for you when you adorably giggled when we watched a movie at the cinemas together; there is little that makes me happier than watching you smile.”

And from Caitlyn:

“Over the past five years we have helped each other come out of our shells, you have helped me to find my fun side and make life sillier and more enjoyable; this is one of the many reasons I love you.”

And so, after a vigorous stomping of the glass as per Jewish tradition, Caitlyn and Jeremy were officially husband and wife! It was only a few steps for everyone to head straight inside to start the real party, kicked off with an incredibly enthusiastic Jewish hora, where Caitlyn and Jeremy were hoisted on chairs above the dancing crowd. While the day was tinged with sadness for family members who were no longer with us, it was at the same time a hugely joyful celebration of love and future happiness.
