Ceri and Jake first met in maths class at high school but sparks didn’t fly immediately. In fact, it wasn’t until eight months after year 12 that Ceri messaged Jake to hang out and the pair quickly became more than just friends. But the jury is still out on whether their first date was at the zoo or an aquarium visit a few weeks later!

What is for certain though, is how these guys feel about each other. Ceri adores that Jake is so expressive and just loves everything, all the time.

“He is like a golden retriever, he just has so much passion for so many things. You never have to wonder what he is feeling or thinking!”

One downside of Jake’s open-book personality is that he is absolutely terrible at keeping secrets. So it’s amazing that he managed to surprise Ceri on their 7th anniversary with a two-night stay at the Langham Hotel in a “fancy pants room” and a beautiful photo book chronicling their relationship so far.

When Ceri got the final page of the album, it said: “this book only scratches the surface of the amazing adventures we’ve had. Will you marry me?” And Jake dropped to one knee with an engagement ring. He said to Ceri: “this is the easiest decision I have ever made”.

Like so many couples over the past 2.5 years, planning a wedding during a global pandemic has thrown up some challenges, but Ceri and Jake got there in the end! The rain, mist and fog throughout the day made their winter wedding at the stunning Marybrooke Manor ever more atmospheric. And the intimate guest list of family and friends were more than happy to spend the entire day at the one venue!

There was barely a dry eye in the chapel when the pair shared their personal vows:

“When life gets hard and everything seems messy, you are the constant in my life; my ever reliable best friend. Thank you for showing me what it means to truly love and be loved without end. I promise to never forget how lucky I am to have found someone as beautiful as you, both inside and out.”

And from Ceri:

“You make me feel that I am enough and your faith in me makes me believe in myself … I promise to listen, to learn and to grow with you as we walk side by side through this life … Jake, I promise to choose you and only you, for the rest of my life. I am so incredibly lucky that you are my forever.”
