Seven-and-a-bit years ago (I think), I photographed Dina as a bridesmaid for her old friend Liz when I was shooting my first ever wedding. A lot has changed for all of us in that time, and for Dina that meant falling in love and moving to New York with Adam, who himself has lived in four countries in those years!
This week, I got to meet Dina-the-bride, Dina-the-daughter and Adam-the-real-person (I’d only spoken to him over skype as we planned their wedding photography together and discovered that he’s much taller when he’s not on a computer screen!), and had the massive honour of capturing their day for them. They were married at St Joan of Arc in Brighton and then we headed off for some photos around Dina’s old bayside stomping grounds before a reception at Encore in the St Kilda Sea Baths.
Guys, it was a privilege. Not just because of the link to Tom and Liz’s wedding in ’05 or because of our friendship since, or even the fact that you’ve moved to the only city in the world with more photographers per capita than Melbourne and still asked me to shoot it for you! It was a privilege because what I saw through the viewfinder on Friday was beautiful, sweet, funny and heartfelt. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Here are some photos!
