Jelena and Nathan met as students at Monash Uni Caulfield more than 12 years ago. Despite Nathan’s best intentions, they remained friends for many years…. he admits now that wearing tracksuit pants to uni every day probably didn’t help his cause!
Nathan always knew they would be good for each other and once he decided to seriously make his move he describes it as an “epic struggle” to bring Jelena around to his point of view. “And now I look forward to our married life together, secure in the knowledge I was right about us even if I’m wrong about everything else!”
Bringing their Serbian and Greek families together, Jelena and Nathan were married at the beautiful Toorak Uniting Church on Toorak Road. They were lucky in love and also the weather forecast, as the previous day Melbourne had been drenched with torrential rain and hail – turns out having a Sunday wedding was a fantastic decision!
After the ceremony, we headed to the steps of Parliament House for some photos where we had the place nearly all to ourselves. Not a huge fan of photos of himself, Nathan was more than happy to let his bride take centre stage. The bridal party were eventually coaxed out of their comfy cars for some photos in Treasury Gardens to the soundtrack of thumping music coming from Melbourne Oktoberfest at Birrarung Marr, before we all headed to Leonda by the Yarra for the reception.
Jelena and Nathan – thanks for including us on your special day, we wish you all the best for a wonderful life together.
Nathan couldn’t resist a “Roger David” pose or two!
Special shout out to Best Man Troy, who managed to track down Serbian, Greek and Australian flags with one just one day’s notice.
