Brett had never brought a girl home to meet his family. So, imagine their surprise and excitement when his two younger sisters were out one evening and up popped a photo on their Facebook feed of their brother with a mystery girl, captioned “This is my Tom Cruise.” Let the Facebook stalking begin!
The night in question was Loren and Brett’s first meeting, out in Sydney with mutual friends. They hit it off straight away and talked all night. Then just hours after Brett returned to Melbourne, he was on Loren’s doorstep to take her on their first date in Mordialloc. By the time they had left the beach later that night, Brett had lost his sunglasses – a very convenient excuse to visit Loren the next day as she worked in a shopping centre!
“From the beginning it was just so easy … there was no feeling uncomfortable about anything and we have practically been together every day since that day.”
These guys love to travel and have been overseas four times in just 18 months – the first trip together to US and Cuba was booked just 16 days after they met.
“Brett is a blokey bloke but he is such a softie. He is a romantic, he is full of surprises and is caring and compassionate. You can see it through his relationships with his family and friends … he will do anything for his mum and sisters. He is a very special man and every day I pinch myself.”
When it came to the proposal, Brett popped the question under a firework show on the beach during a holiday to Hawaii. It had been a long first day, since due to the time zones, the pair had been awake for 40 hours with the ring burning a hole in Brett’s wallet the entire time.
“I was a bit worried about what state we would be in by sunset, but it worked out perfectly. I just wanted to get it on her finger as quick as I could.”
For their wedding, Loren and Brett wanted a low-key celebration with family and friends and All Smiles Docklands fit the bill perfectly. Although we were threatened with grey clouds and squalling rain before and during the indoor ceremony, everyone managed to stay warm and dry. Celebrant Sharon Palmieri had everyone in stitches with her enthusiastic re-telling of how Loren and Brett met and got together.
We didn’t have much time or light for their photos but when a couple is this much fun and this much in love, it certainly made our job so easy. And the Docklands sculptures and waterfront within walking distance meant we didn’t have to go far to find beautiful backdrops before we headed back inside for the reception. Special mention has to go to Brett’s sisters Kerri and Ashlee for their heartfelt and hilarious speech that brought the house down!
