There’s a lot to be said for the power of positive thinking. Melinda and Leigh would have been forgiven for being a little stressed about the gathering clouds or the reports of traffic blockages all over the city this morning, but when we knocked on the door at each house to photograph their preparations, it was clear that these thoughts couldn’t have been further from their minds.
Somehow it worked too. The rain bucketed down this morning, but by the time we arrived at Queen’s Park after the ceremony, the clouds seemed to have given up on trying to darken the mood and wedges of blue sky were pushing them aside. I’m sure there’s a metaphor for marriage in there somewhere :)
Celebrant Paul Cochrane led a ceremony which literally had people laughing and crying, but also gave us all an insight into how this couple came to meet, fall in love and find themselves standing in the Roselyn Court chapel grinning at each other in front of their nearest and dearest.
It’s an honour to be asked to document a day like today, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with Melinda, Leigh and their families. Special mention to both mums (I lost count of the number of times we were offered food!), best man Francis and “Bridesman” Brenton.
There’ll be many more pictures to come, but for now here are a few of my favourites. If you’d like us to let you know when the rest are ready, just ‘like’ our facebook page or send us an email.
