This first thing I have to say about Rachel and Luke’s wedding is wow, what a dress!

We love to allow 30 minutes at the start of a wedding day to take some dedicated photos of the wedding dress, much to the bemusement of Rachel’s dad.  While he was extremely helpful when it came to hanging the heavy dress on the curtain rail, Glen couldn’t understand why the dress was getting a photo shoot all of its own – but when you have two incredibly beautiful wedding gowns, we actually wish we’d allowed more time!

Apart from a semi-trailer accident that caused a brief period of traffic chaos, Rachel and Luke’s special day went off without a hitch. While Rachel and her five bridesmaids were getting pampered at Hilton South Wharf, Luke and his men were over in Avondale Heights, joined by a progressive stream of family and friend well-wishers.

After a traditional Catholic ceremony with some Filipino traditions to honour Rachel’s family, we all headed to the Victoria Barracks. We had to jump through a few hoops to get a photography permit organised, but it was definitely worth it – incredible vine covered walls, bluestone staircases and beautiful afternoon light – Iain was in photography heaven. Rachel, Luke  and Rachel’s dress :) joined us for some gorgeous photos, while the bridal party relaxed on the lawn with a picnic courtesy of Luke’s mum. From the laughs and jokes going on (“goldfish” anyone?) you wouldn’t know all the girls from Perth were just meeting the guys from Melbourne that day!

At the reception, the tone was set for a party very early. We’ve seen some crazy dancefloors, but we’ve never seen one launch like that one did – within literally minutes of being announced and descending the enormous staircase into the room, the dance floor was heaving to “Moves Like Jagger”. It was insane!

Thanks Rachel and Luke for a great day – hope you guys had as much fun as we did and enjoy your photos for many years to come.
