Rhys and Siri might work for the same employer but they very almost never met, let alone got married. Back in 2011 they both worked for engineering company McConnell Dowell but on different floors. Rhys was due to be transferred to a new team, a move that he was fighting all the way, that was until he met a dark haired Belgian beauty working in Australia on a short term contract. As described by their celebrant Sally Hughes on their wedding day – there were lots of introductions at that first team meeting, but Rhys walked away only knowing one name.
Fast forward 2½ years and Siri and Rhys declared their love in front of their family and friends (including Siri’s mum and three sisters who flew over from Belgium) under a blazing blue sky on the Elwood pier – thanks to some expert styling by Balwyn Events. After some photos on the foreshore, we all headed into Sails on the Bay for a rocking reception and some beautiful, heartfelt speeches including this gem by the father of the groom: “Rhys, just promise me one thing, that one day you’ll stand up in a place like this and give a speech like this for your son on his wedding day.”
Best wishes for a long and happy marriage guys, and if we’re still around we’d love to shoot your son’s wedding!
(P.S. Special mention to Mordialloc Florist for their awesome work with the bouquets. I’m not sure what kind of magic you used to make it happen guys, but somehow those flowers survived a 36 degree day unscathed!)
