Veronica and Brad first met through a dating app, but it definitely wasn’t the first time they had crossed paths. After a few weeks of chatting online, Veronica and Brad realised they had actually met before, as children! Turns out Brad’s grandparents lived next door to Veronica’s family in Rosedale (near Traralgon) and they remembered playing together when he and his brother would visit. When they chatted about their interests and favourite bands and comedians, they also realised they had been to many of the same shows on the same night, so it seems like the universe was definitely trying to get them together!

Their shared history encouraged them to take the plunge and meet up in person, so Brad planned a really nice dinner date.

“We were talking for two hours before we even ordered our food … we just hit it off immediately. I really liked his sense of humour and I just love his smile.”

When it came to the proposal, Veronica was genuinely shocked as she thought Brad would take years to get his act together. He chose Halloween, her favourite holiday, to arrange a surprise while Veronica was at the gym. Brad carved a massive pumpkin lantern to hide the ring inside and got down on one knee to propose.

“Until I saw that ring box inside the lantern, I had no clue; and when I did, I had a mini heart attack! He opened it up and pulled the ring out, I was still frozen and said, ‘are you serious?’”

It’s been more than two years since we first photographed these guys for their engagement session, so we were so thrilled to be able to capture their beautiful wedding day at Potters Receptions. Grey clouds and distant thunder had been threatening all morning but it wasn’t until the very last minute that the decision was made to bring the ceremony indoors, with the doors wide open to take advantage of the beautiful wisteria courtyard.

Once their love was official, we wandered around the grounds to take some photos, never straying too far from the umbrellas! Then it was time for the reception with some incredibly emotional speeches, yummy food and dancing – complete with a stunning dress change by Veronica.
