There’s something really special about working with a couple that previous clients have referred us to. They know all about us before we ever speak, and quite often seem to ‘get’ us and what we do from day one. Jo and I aren’t particularly good at explaining what’s different about us, but people like Ryan and Jackie seem to have it worked out (we should really be hiring them to meet with potential clients instead of us – I’m sure they’d do a better job!).
One thing that we do a little bit differently is that we meet with our couples a few weeks before their wedding to visit the ceremony and shoot locations, and in Victoria and Dean’s case, we all got soaked because it was a disgusting day. But we also learnt a lot about this couple when they ran out into the rain with us to talk about photos and finalise all the last minute details (we did do some of that under cover..). I like to think that by doing that, the four of us all kinda ‘paid’ for today’s beautiful weather!
Some girls plan their wedding for 12 months, and some start planning at about age six. Victoria is in the second category, and it’s really nice to be able to say that the plan came off perfectly.
