When Darren casually asked Celeste what she had planned for her birthday three months in advance, she knew something special was on the cards. But nothing else was said until the busy weekend arrived, packed with other events and activities. When Celeste said didn’t really feel like going out for dinner now, she saw the panic in his eyes.

“Then he went into the bedroom and changed into a suit, so I thought, ‘oh wow it’s going to happen’. So I got all frocked up and got ready to go, even though I didn’t know where we were going.”

Turns out Darren had booked a romantic dinner at Vue de Monde. By the time they had reached dessert with no proposal, Celeste realised it was just going to be a phenomenal birthday dinner. So, when he finally popped the question a couple of minutes after they arrived home, she was definitely surprised!

We first met Celeste and Darren at their engagement session last year and we knew that if their wedding day was even half as fun, we were in for an amazing day! These guys are just such a joy to be around and clearly love each other dearly but aren’t afraid to be silly, tell jokes and just generally laugh all day!

In fact, it’s Celeste’s confidence and quirky personality that Darren most loves about her:

“I can’t imagine anyone better to spend the rest of my life with; and I can‘t wait to see the crazy adventures she pulls me into over the next 60 years.”

For their wedding, choosing Channel Ten weatherman Mike Larkan as their celebrant turned out to be a genius move. The ominous rain clouds never broke which meant we could stick to the original plan to hold the ceremony in Lyrebird Falls‘ beautiful garden courtyard.
Afterwards, we ducked down the road to Grant’s Picnic Ground to take some photos of Celeste and Darren with their stunning cars before re-joining the bridal party back at Lyrebird Falls.

After eight years together “joined at the hip like demented conjoined twins” according to Maid of Honour Adele, this wedding was always going to be a huge celebration. And the party atmosphere at the reception was turned up a notch with a surprise entrance accompanied by (very loud!) Lebanese drummers, as a nod to Celeste’s heritage. What a night!

Celeste and Darren – you guys are such an amazing couple and have kept us laughing and smiling throughout this whole wedding journey, thankyou so much. We know you have a wonderful future together filled with many more adventures… and probably lots of reptiles!
