Walking their daughter down the aisle is a special moment for most fathers, but especially so for Jacinta’s dad. Only seven months ago, Ted was extremely unwell and unable to use the left side of his body. Sitting in the hospital, Ted said to his daughter “do you think I will get this leg working again?” But Jacinta had no doubt. “The courage, patience, determination and grace you have shown to get here today is overwhelming.”
When it came to the proposal for this Perth-based couple, Michael concocted an elaborate plan involving a new-found obsession with camel farms. After talking about it for some months, Michael arranged a farm visit for the pair to taste camel milk. With Christmas celebrations in both Perth and Melbourne fast approaching, Jacinta was less than keen. But she loves him and “it actually didn’t sound unusual for him”, so she went along with his crazy plan. Lucky she did, because when they got there she discovered the “farm” was actually a day spa and Michael had booked a massage and accommodation before he popped the question.
On the wedding day, Jacinta would be forgiven for being a little stressed – catching a plane with her wedding dress, one pregnant bridesmaid, two bridesmaids with newborn babies (just 4-weeks and 11-weeks old) and a still-quite-unwell dad, to fly across to the other side of the country. But they all took it in their stride and you couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces all day.
Jacinta and Michael officially became husband and wife at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Brunswick East before we all headed to Carlton Gardens for some photos. Rugged up between shots in Ikea fleece throw blankets (a great idea!) the bridal party were such troopers, before everyone let their hair down at the reception at one of our favourite venues Leonda by the Yarra. Surrounded by spectacular floral decorations by Helen Dillon florist and ably led by “Director of Atmosphere” MC Luke, everyone had a wonderful night.
Jacinta and Michael – you guys are such a wonderful couple with an extremely loving group of family and friends. We loved getting to know everyone and being able to tell your unique love story.
